I’m sorry – Lilwin to Martha Ankomah after reaching out of court settlement on defamation suit

Multifaceted Ghanaian celebrity Kwadwo Nkansah known popularly as Lilwin has finally apologised to actress Martha Ankomah for denigrating her brand.

It will be recalled that Lilwin in a video that went viral on social media used some unprintable words on the person of Martha Ankomah questioning her prominence in the movie industry, among others.

The actress then sued the Kumawood actor for defamation. Earlier this week, Lawyer for Martha Ankomah in court announced that Lilwin had reached out and asked for an out-of-court settlement.

When the case was called in  court on July 31, Lawyers for the actress who is the plaintiff, Nii Apatu Plange, stated, “There has been some development.”

“We were supposed to start the trial today, (Wednesday, July 31). Unfortunately, some development has come up, and I pray that my client and I approach the bench,” he submitted.

After they approached the bench, Justice Forson Agyapong Baah, the presiding judge, acknowledged before adjourning the case that the Plaintiff and her lawyers had agreed to settle the matter.

In a post which has so far gone viral, Lilwin apologised to the Ghallywood actress stating that his intentions were not to insult her.

According to the ‘A Country Called Ghana ‘ actor, “I apologize for what I did. Martha Ankomah is not only a sister, but she is a colleague too. I accept my fault and render an unqualified apology to her. I want to use this medium and call on all of you present in the studio, Fada Dickson, Despite among others, to apologize to her for me.”

The case has been adjourned to August 15, 2024, during the legal vacation, to finalize the settlement and have the agreed terms adopted by the court as a consent judgment.
