The Police have arrested 12 suspects for allegedly looting and causing damage to properties in some parts of the country. In an engagement with the media on Sunday, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs, Ghana Police Service, said according to preliminary investigations, the suspects attacked and caused damage to some state properties, including the burning the Electoral Commission office in Damango in the Savannah Region.
They also caused damage to some residences of District Chief Executives (DEs) in some parts of the country and vandalised some collation centres.
ACP Ansah-Akrofi said some of the suspects also broke into the School Feeding Project Warehouse in Tamale in the Northern Region and made away with some items, including foodstuffs.
She said footages of the attacks, vandalism and looting had been obtained and were being reviewed by a team of dedicated investigators to get other perpetrators arrested to face justice.
The Policewoman urged the public to remain calm as Police officers had been strategically deployed to key locations with intensified patrols to maintain law and order.
