Bakhita Mawuli Koblavie, a Ghanaian lawyer, has graduated top of her class from the GIMPA Faculty of Law, with an LLM in International Trade and Business Law, earning a GPA of 3.89 out of 4.0 and received the Dr Daniel McKorley Prize for the best student on the LLM in International Trade and Business Law programme for the September 2026 graduating class. Her thesis assessed Ghana’s preparedness to provide effective remedies to victims of business and human rights abuses in the extractive sector in Ghana, in the wake of the AfCFTA Investment Protocol.
Bakhita was called to the Ghana Bar in 2012, where she received the Ghana School of Law’s award for best graduating student in ADR for the 2011/2012 graduating class. She holds an earlier LLM in Comparative and International Dispute Resolution from Queen Mary University of London, awarded with Merit, which she read as a 208/2019 Chevening Scholar.
She graduated from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in 2010, and has previously taught commercial law at the Faculty of Law and Human Rights Law at the Department of Health Promotion and Disability Studies. Currently, Bakhita is an ADR Lecturer at the Ghana School of Law.
Bakhita looks forward to continuing her work and research in investment dispute resolution and the protection of human rights within investment regulation, particularly how regional frameworks can better integrate human rights, sustainable development and access to remedy.
