Parliament adjourns sine die after approving key bills and rejecting $250m loan facility

During its third meeting of the fourth session, the House approved several key bills, including the Affirmative Action, Gender Equity Bill 2024, the Ghana Shippers Authority Bill 2024, and the National Service Authority Bill 2024.

The meeting also featured the Minister for Finance, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, who presented the 2024 Mid-Year Budget Review.

Speaker Alban Bagbin adjourned the house indefinitely on Tuesday after the minority caucus, in a voice vote, won against the approval of a $250 million loan facility for the Ghana Energy Sector Recovery Programme.

However, Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin stated that the caucus disagreed with the Speaker’s unilateral decision to adjourn the house. He revealed that the group plans to marshal its numbers to recall the house in accordance with the law.
